The weather report for Sunday’s Ironman Coeur d’Alene has now changed from 30% to 70% chance of precipitation and there is a high likelihood of thunderstorms.  I don’t mind a little rain however biking through thunderstorms could prove to be a little tricky.  Given this news, I am re-packing my gear bags with extra clothing options like arm warmers and an extra vest.

I slept in a bit too much this morning and therefore arrived too late for the official swim session.  I still managed to get in a bit of a swim before they shut down the course however did not go too far because I had left all my gear unguarded on the beach (the gear check had closed already).  The water was cold enough to warrant wearing a neoprene hat but not so cold that it bothered my exposed skin.  The water was also quite choppy however it did not seem to bother me too much.  Perhaps that sentiment will change on Sunday after fighting the chop for over an hour.  Heh heh.  I am sure that will be the case.

I wandered through Coeur d’Alene for a bit after my swim.  Just long enough to spot a few friends from home and do some window shopping before it began to rain (again!).   I saw this sign in a shop window which kinda sums up my current financial reality.

Poor Is The New Rich

I am spending the rest of the day prepping my gear, napping, eating and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my siblings from Canada.  Hope they get here soon!
