A big shout out to everyone that is riding today in the Ride 2 Survive. The R2S is a 400 km ride from Kelowna to Delta that is completed in a single day. It is an epic ride that raises money to support Cancer research and support those that are living with this disease.
I attempted this ride last year but crashed mid-ride and broke several teeth and fractured my right arm. Even so, I got fixed up at the hospital and was able to ride with the group for the last 60 km into town. It was a very empowering and emotion charged event. Here is my post from last year.

Crazy ride Don. The winds from Clearwater to the base of the Coquihala were gusting to like 80km head on. We suffered alot. Another finished 400k brother. We didn’t get in till after 11pm. A very long day. I got a broken chain on the Penask summit, my rear tire got slashed on the turnoff from the Coquihalla to Hope, and I got in crash along Loghheed Hwy, nothing serious at all. All in all another sweet R2S, unfortunately the winds were TERRIBLE. Now I just have to un-numb my hands and it will be a few days I think before I can sit on a bike seat. Hope CDA went well!
Wow. What an epic day for Libor for you. I am happy to hear that you survived. IM CDA was a bit nasty. It was very windy here as well which created some big chop during the swim. I had my worst IM swim time ever but managed to move up through the ranks on the bike and swim to finish up @ 11:46. The last 5 miles of the run were in a total downpour which made things a little nasty.
