Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide openSay what you need to say
Say what you need to say

A tough week of training this week, tough because of the volume of training and also because these are my first real swim sessions after injuring my shoulder last month. Despite the challenges, this week has also been some of the most enjoyable and rewarding training that I have experienced all year. Perhaps my appreciation is derived from the satisfaction of getting in such quality work prior to Ironman Canada. I am feeling back on track!
Weekly Totals
Swim – 8 km
Run – 44 km
Bike – 55 km
Brick – 132 km
Unfortunately the weather this weekend has not been the best for training. Today I ran 22 km and then swam 4 km in the pouring rain. Ugh! I was a bit hypothermic by the end of my swim. Yesterdays bike drier however it was really cold and foggy riding up to the top of Mt Seymour. The funniest part of the ride came when I was descending the mountain. I was riding quite slowly because visibility was so poor because of the fog. As I rode, I chanted, “I am so f**king cold. I am so f**king cold”. I then heard a voice in the fog say, “You’re not the only one! We have to hike all the f**king way down. It’s going to take us hours.” I suppose that is yet another example of the need to be thankful for your lot in life. It can always be worse!
One more big week of training and then it will be taper time. Woot!

Pretty f**king funny … I’ll bet those people were freaked to hear a voice out of the fog.
Thanks for the update on the Wildcats – I hope it went well ordering from WRC. They’re really working hard to win their customers!
Thanks Donald. I am pretty excited about the prospect of running in the Wildcats this weekend.
