For just one day, I have the privelidge to share the day with some of the best athletes in the world. I will not be the fastest. I might even be the slowest but none of that matters to me. To be a part of it is the greatest honour.
For just one day, I can put aside the problems that inflict the human collective and just be part of an event that celebrates sport, health and camaraderie.
For just one day, I will not take those toxic drugs that keep me alive. Which means that for just one day, I can stand as strong as the person beside me.
But only just for one day. Reality must return to me the second that I cross that finish line tomorrow. And I am good with that. Just give me my one day.
