I want to be just like Joe Bonness when I grow up. Iron Joe is 54 years old and is going longer and faster every year. Not only does Joe win in his age group, he is also the overall winner in many long course events. Check out these stats:
- 54 years old
- 58 Ultra Distance Triathlons (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile ride, 26.2 mile run)
- 4 overall wins, 48 Age Group wins
- 3 Age Group wins at Kona
- 2008 – 50-54 Ironman Age Group World Record 9:12:41
- 2007 – Ironman World Championship First, Men 50-54
- 2007 – Great Floridian Ultra Distance – First Overall 4-Time Champion
- 2007 – Ironman Wisconsin – First, Men 50-54
- Ironman Florida – Top 4 times for Men 50-54
So often in our society we seem to celebrate mediocrity, like when reality show contestants gets a free ride to the Kona World Ironman championships. Joe Bonness is not mediocre, he is someone that sets new standards and benchmarks for the rest of us age group athletes. That is why I want to be just like him when I grow up. If that ever happens. ;p)

In my eyes, you’re already just as great as Iron Joe
You are the sweetest weighlifter in Japan that I know.
I wonder if he is single and straight? hmmmm….
Sorry, I believe that Joe is married (or was when his last public bio was posted). I will see what I can do for you though.
